3. Engaging Public Realm
Public realm refers to accessible public spaces which form linkages and places.
These spaces come in different forms - streets, sidewalks, plazas, parks,
waterfront promenade, etc., and collectively they play an important role in
promoting urban liveability and well-being. Each development should seek
out opportunities to enhance the public realm with a view to enriching our
quality of living and the image of the city. The relevant guidelines include:
(i) Welcoming Parks and Plazas;
(ii) Accessible Waterfronts and Water Edges;
(iii) Attractive Streetscapes;
(iv) Robust and Sustainable Landscapes; and
(v) Inviting Street Furniture.
