     Emerging Design Concepts Updated
               The urban design principles of the current version have been largely retained
               in the revamped UDG. To bring the UDG up-to-date, suitable and relevant
               emerging design ideas are infused into the revamped UDG. These mainly
               include principles highlighted in the HK2030+ as well as existing and latest
               practices, including:
                       (i) climate adaptation considerations such as incorporation of
                              blue-green infrastructure in the development, maximising
                              tree planting and sustainable landscape, as well as creating
                              permeable development;
                       (ii) health and well-being such as creating/maintaining the built
                              environment conducive to walkability and enhancing human
                              comfort, as well as integrating biophilic elements in the building
                              design; and
                       (iii) key recommendations of urban climatic map study relating to
                              building permeability, ground coverage, building setbacks and
                              greenery provision. The need to bring urban design into an early
                              stage of the planning and development process has also been
                              emphasised.
