A brief summary of the four overarching principles is outlined below.
1. Responding to Context
It is important for a development to respond positively and relates well with
its surroundings. Understanding the history, function, character and setting of
a place is the starting point for designing projects at any scale. The Study of
context will help shape key design decisions, such as built form, orientation,
height, massing, open space design and landscape treatment. The relevant
guidelines include:
(i) Respect Natural Assets;
(ii) Respect Neighbourhood Character; and
(iii) Create Permeable Development.
