Embracing the Harbour’s Assets
Victoria Harbour is an internationally renowned icon, and a special public asset and
natural heritage of Hong Kong. For many years, while most of the harbourfront
areas have been shaped for various functions to support our vibrant city, the
Government is committed to realising the Harbour Planning Vision of building an
attractive, vibrant, accessible and sustainable harbourfront. A number of planning
and design studies for the harbourfront areas have been conducted over the past
years, striving to bring the Harbour Planning Vision to life. The Government has
also earmarked $6.5 billion of dedicated funding to extend the existing 23 km long
harbourfront promenades to 34 km by 2028, with an additional 35 ha of open
space.
