UDS for Tung Chung New Town Extension

The Tung Chung New Town Extension (TCNTE) covers a total of 245 ha on the
eastern and western flanks of the existing TCNT. The Study was commissioned

in February 2018 to formulate more in-depth design guidelines/manuals for
various focus areas including open spaces and major development sites in the

TCNTE Area which will be incorporated into the conditions of future lease/
land allocation documents for implementation.

The UDAG was consulted on the proposed urban design initiatives in October

2018 and September 2020. Major initiatives include creation of activity nodes
for a vibrant waterfront promenade and introduction of retail frontage and

all-weather facilities along major pedestrian spines connecting the Metro Core
Area and other residential sites with the waterfront. The Consultants would

further refine the guidelines/manuals taking into account UDAG’s comments
where appropriate. The Study is scheduled for completion in 2021.
