Study on Active Design for Healthier Lifestyle
– Feasibility Study

The Study was commissioned by the Department in February 2020 to explore how “active
design” can be incorporated in the planning and development process to promote healthy

lifestyle, and to formulate a set of advisory Active Design Guidelines. The Study was
substantially completed in early 2023. The Department will continue to promote the integration
of active design elements into the built environment.

Cross-boundary Travel Survey 2021

Cross-boundary Travel Survey aims to collect statistical
information about the characteristics of cross-boundary
trips (both passenger trips and vehicle trips) and the trip-
makers. The latest round of Cross-boundary Travel Survey
was conducted in 2021 with a view to obtaining a more
up-to-date picture of cross-boundary traffic, despite Hong

Kong was under the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The
survey was completed in 2022. Major results of the survey
were released via the “Northbound Southbound 2021”
report in October 2022.
