Building frontages with vibrant street activities
have a high degree of impact on the quality
of the pedestrian environment and pedestrian
experience. There is positive impact of visually
transparent façades in contributing to a vibrant
and safe street environment. These elements
play a role in creating preconditions for the
“Active Walking Journey” as well.

can refer to podium and sky garden, rooftop
spaces, exercise and multi-purpose rooms.
Provision of active spaces and supporting
facilities can create preconditions for more
physical activities and active commuting.
Flexibility of use, thermal comfort and inter-
generational design should be considered in
making the spaces at the building level for
various physical activities.
