7.1 CONCLUSION
7.1.1 In summary, Technical Report No.5 has addressed the following items from Tasks 8 and 9 of the Study Brief:
Analyze the information and data gathered from the desk top study and field survey,
Divide landscape into areas of distinct recognizable and consistent character as shown in the LCM and Database
Refine and revise the classification of LCT and LCA, including their name codes and boundaries.
Refine and revise the landscape evaluative criteria and
Provide detailed factual descriptions of the components which contribute to and define the landscape character accompanied by a separate list of the key characteristics, types and extent, of each LCT and LCA.
Recommend the most suitable indicator for systematic and objective landscape impact assessment.
Identify the sensitivity of each LCT and their ability to accommodate changes.
Prepare a draft landscape character map in GIS format compatible with that used in the sustainability evaluation tool developed under SUSDEV21.
A stand-alone GIS database and relevant attribute tables; photographic records and system for data storage and retrieval of written description and illustrations.
7.1.2 The key products of this phase of the Study are:
The GIS Database (to be presented in the Final Report);
The Draft Landscape Character Map;
A report providing analysis of the data in the Draft Landscape Character Map; descriptions of key components in the landscape of Hong Kong; a presentation of the final classification and evaluative system used in the Study; presentation of the recommended landscape Indicator.
7.2 WAY FORWARD
7.2.1 The information and analysis contained in this Report will be presented in a simplified format in the Information Pamphlet.
7.2.2 Feedback from the public, from Government and from other consultees, will be taken into account and the LCM and database will be updated, as part of Task 11 (Revised and Final Landscape Character Map).
