CH7 CONCLUSION AND WAY FORWARD

7.1        INTRODUCTION

7.1.1     In summary, Technical Report No.3 has addressed the following tasks set out in Task 5, including:

7.1.2     The PLCM has defined a useful first draft Landscape Character Map and database of relevant information. This will be verified and corrected during Tasks 6 and 7 of the Study: Pilot Survey and Field Survey.

7.2        WAY FORWARD TO PILOT SURVEY AND FIELD SURVEY

7.2.1     Task 6 will involve the survey of Lantau Island by survey team members, so as to test the field survey methodology (as described in Section 5 above).

7.2.2     Task 7 will involve extensive field survey to verify and confirm LCTs and LCA boundaries.

  Key Issues

7.2.3     As required by Study Brief paras 6.7(1) and 6.8(1) detailed arrangements for Pilot and Field Survey, set out in this report, need to be agreed by the Director's Representative prior to commencement of the surveys.

  Draft Landscape Character Map

7.2.4     As a result of the pilot and field surveys, it is acknowledged that the list of LCTs presented in this report as well as the PLCM will undergo significant revisions. These revisions will be presented in the Draft Landscape Character Map, prepared as part of Tasks 8 and 9.

  Study Programme

7.2.5     Depending on approval (or otherwise) of the field survey proposal presented in this report, it may be necessary to review and refine the Study Programme in order to meet changing project requirements and constraints. It is therefore suggested that flexible and responsive approach to internal programming is adopted, whilst maintaining the final Study deadlines.
